ROMNEY

All Romneys are recorded through SIL. We have strict culling across both our ram and ewe flocks, with only 30% of male progeny becoming available for sale.

We put a lot of emphasis into dag scoring, fertility, survival and immunity to worm burdens. No adult sheep are drenched, and will be culled along with any of their progeny if it is required for any reason. Working alongside AgResearch, we have done studies on faecal egg counts, including cultures over the course of a year. These were performed monthly on lambs/hoggets (both rams and ewes), 2tooths and mixed age ewes. We are now in the process of doing the same study on our angus cattle, including calves/weaners, Rising 2 heifers and mixed age cows.
